For years I’ve wanted to try archery, but I never imagined it would be quite as much fun as this. SkyBow is archery with a major difference – you fire arrows at moving targets in the sky. Aside from the heightened enjoyment of ‘clay pigeon’ style archery, the fact that the whole group fires at the same target, at the same time, also raises the competitive heckles. The experience is changed from one of solitary technical discipline to a zealous group arrow firing bonanza. At the end of our one-hour session I’d notched up a respectable three full hits and three clips and it certainly left my yearning for one more arrow…

The other activity we tried on our day of Madrenaline was Segway which I’d always thought was just for people too lazy to walk. How wrong could I be! On the flat the Segways are fun. Weaving through the slalom course you can only admire the uncanny responsiveness of these bizarre contraptions as they obey the smallest of your movements, instantaneously becoming a mechanical extension to your body.

However on the woodland tracks and the obstacle course the Segways really come into their own. 12mph has never seemed so fast as you fly downhill over humps and bumps seemingly contravening all known laws about centre of gravity. These off road tracks, involving the odd see-saw and rope bridge, really allow you to test the limits of these magnificent machines and will undoubtedly get the adrenaline flowing in even the most ardent adventure junkie.
