For far too long I’d neglected to visit Snowdonia believing it just to be gentle, rolling hills. How wrong could I be! On our microadventure in Snowdonia we discovered a giant playground built of craggy rock with mountain landscapes akin to the Munros of Scotland, or even the Alps of Europe. What’s more, Snowdonia is barely a two hour drive from central or northern England. So if you’re looking for knife-edge ridges, nerve jangling scrambles or just great hill walking, then Snowdonia is the place for you.

Watch this short video to see why I enjoyed my first visit to Snowdonia so much, and how I unexpectedly managed to climb my first mountain in the snow…
