On 31st March 2012 my good friend Chris Gruar will begin a cycle ride from the UK to Australia to raise money for the Association of International Cancer Research (AICR). This epic journey of over 30,000 kilometres, passing through more than 30 countries, will take Chris approximately 2 years. He will be entirely unassisted, carrying all of his gear himself and camping each night. The trip will be self-financed so every penny raised will go directly to international cancer research.

In preparation for his journey Chris has been training hard both on and off his bike including cycling across England along Hadrian’s Wall, a five-week ride to Portugal as well as numerous hiking expeditions (as seen on my microadventures page).  A couple of weeks ago I attempted to keep up with Chris on a cycle ride through the Peak District. See below for the promotional video Chris produced using footage on this ride…

To follow Chris’ journey, or to make a donation to the very worthy cause, visit his blog here. Otherwise, watch this space for more posts on my blog updating you on his progress across the world.
